Professional Teeth Cleaning includes teeth scaling and polishing. Regular teeth cleaning (prophylaxis) is recommended to remove tartar (mineralized plaque) and dental plaque from teeth, to prevent cavities, gingivitis, and periodontitis. Tartar may develop even with careful brushing and flossing, especially in areas that are difficult for a patient to reach on his own at home. It is recommended having the teeth professionally cleaned at least once every 12 months. Routine examination of the teeth is recommended once a year. This may include yearly selected dental X-rays.
