Teeth whitening are also known as dental bleaching. Two major teeth whitening options are available today.

In-Office Whitening

Significant teeth colour change in a short period of time is the advantage of in-office whitening. This treatment involves using the hydrogen peroxide gel and ultraviolet light to produce maximum whitening results in the shortest time. Generally, the peroxide remains on the teeth for 15-20 minute intervals that add up to an hour. Those with particularly stubborn staining may be advised to continue with a take-home whitening system.

Professionally Dispensed Take-Home Whitening Kits

Take-home kits incorporate an easy to use hydrogen peroxide gel that remains on the teeth for an hour daily for up 2 weeks. The gel is applied to the teeth using custom-made bleaching trays. The effects of bleaching can last for several months, but may vary depending on the lifestyle of the patient. Factors which will decrease whitening include smoking and the ingestion of dark colored liquids like coffee, tea and red wine.
